Just how do we edit your photos, you might
ask. Here's what the creator and photo editor of Teen Models 2007 has to say...

Manny: I edited photos based on the quality of a submitted image,
and the required theme for a certainsubject. The higher the quality, the lesser enhancements, and the lesser work for me

Our standard for this Modeling and Talents site when it
comes to images is that: any featured photo must look natural, being careful not to change the character of the model. It's okay to remove the blemishes and whiten the complexion a bit, but that's all. I never remove the natural character which identifies a person. For my basic tutorial on photoediting, play the video below:

It's true, I do crop pictures and remove/ replace the
background for promotional purposes. But the rule here is to minimize background movements, and emphasize a theme, except of course in such cases where no further editing is required such as concerts and live fashion shows. This is where we leave the image untouched, such as in the following photos:

Question: How do you minimize background movements?

Manny: Consider this image submitted by one pioneer member
fromTeen Models 2007 Philippines, AbbyGarcia (abbygarcia.wetpaint.com)... The image size of the original submitted photo is in the standard web photo size, 640 x 487 pixels, too low for our standard size. But the lighting is average, and details are quite satisfactory.

Look at the background. I want to emphasize Abby
holding a vase,so I decided to remove the background entirely.

The first thing I did to this photo was to resize it into about
3213 x 2400 pixels so I can work on it more closely, otherwise it will pixelate when I zoom the photo.

Then using the POLYGONAL LASO TOOL in Adobe
Photoshop CS, I extract the subject from the background.

Next, I adjust the LEVELS (this is a little bit complicated
than simply using the BRIGHTNESS and CONTRAST control). Then I create layers. I enhanced the image to soften the skin texture using several Photoshop tools (BLUR, LASSO and MAGNETIC LASSO, HEALING BRUSH, AND FEATHER), .

And finally, with a new LAYER created, I added the
background and light effect using the LAYERS - GRADIENT FILL tool. I soften the contours by using FEATHER or BLUR tool.

See for yourself the difference. In some cases we can
consider that 'simplicity' is "beauty", I hope you'll agree with me.

Q: And How do you emphasize a theme?

Manny: For me, emphasizing a theme is simply "creating a
story" out of an image. It is much like composing a theme in my paintings. These two images of Abby, one original and the other edited explains how I emphasize a theme.
